Reusable Bag Day - April 21, 2008

In order to promote ESCA's event, the Mayor’s office of the City of San Francisco has designated April 21st as Reusable Bag Day in San Francisco. ESCA is also working with the Mayor’s office of the City of Los Angeles and the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles to also designate April 21st as Reusable Bag Day in Los Angeles.

In both San Francisco and Los Angeles, the overuse of disposable shopping bags is a serious issue, as indicated when San Francisco became the first U.S. city to approve groundbreaking legislation to outlaw plastic checkout bags in large markets and drug stores.
