Office Volunteer - Butte Environmental Council (Chico)

Assist as needed with assembling bulk mailers for bi-monthly Membergram. Timeframe dependent on availability. Office hours M-Th 9-5. For more information, contact Maggi Barry at 530.891.6424 or .

Weed Ranger – Marin Agricultural Land Trust (Marin)

Volunteers will work in teams on MALT-protected ranches helping to map, monitor and protect important natural resource values. Volunteers will learn about invasive species ecology, important habitat values on working lands, assessing grassland health and productivity, reading a working landscape, and basic mapping technology. Volunteers also have opportunities to participate in habitat restoration or enhancement projects such as re-vegetating stream corridors, planting hedgerows, and installing and monitoring duck nesting boxes. Habitat Restoration, Beach Clean-up and More -- Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Bay Area)

Weekly ongoing volunteer drop-in schedule at multiple sites throughout the Golden Gate National Parks. The volunteer opportunities are a cooperative park wide effort of Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the National Park Service, and the Presidio Trust. For details, contact (415) 561-3044 or .

English/Chinese and/or English/Russian Translator – Pacific Environment (San Francisco)

Help with translations from Russian and Chinese to English and vice versa for about 2-5 hours per week, including environmental conservation and international travel documents, as well as online and social media content and grant reports. Longer-term internships available for qualified bilingual individuals. Contact for more information.

Habitat Restoration – Save The Bay (Oakland)

Sign up for one of Save The Bay’s community restoration programs and help to restore and protect the Bay while learning about plants and animals along the shoreline. Save The Bay works with volunteers to restore natural wetland habitats by hand at several sites around San Francisco Bay. For more information, visit www.savesfbay.org/volunteer.

Greening the City- Our City Forest (San Jose)

Help grow the urban forest with various activities such as tree planting, early tree care, and tree maintenance during weekly events throughout San Jose. For more information, visit www.ourcityforest.org/volunteer/events.

Beach Cleanup for Private/Corporate Teams – Save Our Shores (Santa Cruz/Monterey)

Private/Corporate cleanups are organized for your company to come out and clean the beach! Cleanups are fun, educational, and beneficial for the environment while helping to building stronger leadership among your team!  Contact for more information.

Public Monthly Beach Cleanups – Save Our Shores (Santa Cruz/Monterey)

Join one of the monthly Saturday public cleanups in Santa Cruz (every 3rd Saturday) or Monterey (every 2nd Saturday) from 10am-noon. To find your nearest location, visit  www.saveourshores.org

Fall Work Party at the Desert Tortoise Research Natural Area  - Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee, Inc. (California City)

Please join us on the weekend of October 19 and 20th for desert clean-up and other stewardship activities in and around the Desert Tortoise Research Natural Area.  Volunteers are invited to participate on either or both days; there will be camping on Saturday night for those who are interested in staying.  Please contact / 951.683.3872 for details or information about other volunteer opportunities.

Habitat/Stream Restoration – Heal The Bay (Santa Monica)

Help to remove invasive species and plant native ones in the local watersheds  and help restore them to their natural state. Typically takes place the second Saturday of every month, from 8:45 am - 12 pm. For details and to RSVP, check out their calendar of events at www.healthebay.org/events.

Nothing But Sand Beach Cleanups – Heal The Bay (Santa Monica)

Join hundreds of other community members from 10 am- 12 pm on the third Saturday of every month to help cleanup beaches in the Santa Monica Bay. Location varies; make sure to RSVP at www.healthebay.org/events.

Water Quality Monitoring Team - San Diego Coastkeeper (San Diego)

Volunteers are trained in collection and testing procedures and head out with teams once a month to collect samples from San Diego’s inland waterways. Help monitor the quality of water flowing through San Diego on its way to the bays and ocean! For more information contact Mallory Watson at 619-758-7743 or

Field Program & Outreach Volunteer – Anza-Borrego Foundation (Borrego Springs)

Program hosts needed who enjoy exploring the park on foot (preferably with the ability to hike 7-12 miles) or by mountain bike on the park’s dirt roads.  Volunteers of all types and abilities are always needed. There is no minimum time commitment, and you can tailor participation to your areas of interest. A training session for new and returning hosts will take place in November. Beach Cleanups - San Diego Coastkeeper (San Diego)
